Cafe La Carreta Now Open!

Miami’s original Cuban kitchen is cooking on all cylinders at the Engineering Center! Just two-miles north of MMC, Café La Carreta is now serving coffee, sandwiches, and pastries at EC—all “Made with Amor.”  Students, faculty, and staff can take a quick 15 minute ride on the University’s CATS shuttle, grab one of their authentic croquetas and head to class or enjoy the ride back to MMC campus with a satisfied belly.

Concession Service Systems (CSS), operator of the FIU-Engineering Center Food Services was proud to announce its new partnership with La Carreta last September. For most of us in South Florida, La Carreta is a local institution that is known as the region’s most famous Cuban Food and coffee since the late 1970s. La Carreta is known for the highest quality in pastries, baked goods, plentiful freshly prepared sandwiches, coffee selections and of course their secret recipe croquetas. Felipe Valls, Owner of La Carreta & Valls Group says, "We were immediately drawn to FIU because of its ongoing commitment to the community. We have known CSS for years and we are certain that this will be an amazing asset to the FIU Engineering Center. Students will find the quality product served at a very good value.”

Higher quality and better tasting means patrons at EC are loving the newest addition to the building.
